Introduction to the Safer Communities Partnership
The Safer Communities Partnership (SCP) is the statutory Crime and Reduction Partnership (CDRP) for Barnsley and one of the delivery partnerships for the One Barnsley Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). As such it is responsible for the Local Area Agreement (LAA) National Indicators pertaining to Community Safety.
The Police and Justice Act 2006 introduced new statutory requirements for Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships to undertake an annual Strategic Assessment of crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour, consult on the findings of this assessment and use the findings of this process to inform a ‘Partnership Plan’ for delivery in the subsequent year.
The current plan covers a three year period from 2008-2011 although it will be reviewed on an annual basis in line with statutory requirements. This will allow us to reflect any new priorities emerging from strategic assessments and consultation with communities. The Plan is available by using this link. CLICK HERE
The Safer Communities Partnership Executive Committee
The ownership for this process rests with the Safer Communities Partnership Executive Committee. This is the statutory (CDRP) Strategy Group for Barnsley, and includes senior representation from the responsible authorities, and other partner agencies including the voluntary and community sector with a role in tackling crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour in our communities.
Members of the Committee are defined in the Committee’s terms of reference as 'representatives of responsible or co-operating bodies with the ability to commit resources and/or direct service delivery, to positively contribute towards the delivery of the Partnership Plan, or invitees to participate in the Committee process'.
The SCP is based at Barnsley Town Hall and the staff team members are:-
